Manda Bay Resort

Classic Destination

Manda Bay Resort is one of the most chilled out destinations we have ever visited and this doesn’t mean that its service standards are in any way compromised, they are exceptional! If you want to truly relax and unwind this is the place for you! It is a small private lodge on a secluded peninsular; there are miles of soft white sand, fascinating creeks and small islets to explore. It is close to ancient Lamu Town, but far enough away from the bustle to enjoy total privacy. You will be welcomed by owners and hosts, Caragh and Andy Roberts who are renowned for their genuine warm Kenyan hospitality.

In keeping with the native landscape, sixteen spacious Swahili cottages set amongst coconut palms and tamarind trees overlook velvety white sand and turquoise waters. Eleven rooms are set right on the seafront and five are set in-between and slightly behind on higher ground. Families can utilize two of these rooms adapting them to a comfortable triple layout. All the rooms are open to maximise the views and catch the cool sea breezes.

The central dining room and bar, fittingly decorated with locally crafted Lamu furniture, boast commanding views over the bay whilst the secluded lounge is perfect for unwinding over ocean sundowners. The cuisine is a wonderful blend of fresh produce and seafood. Individual dietary requirements, children's requests and flexible mealtimes can easily be catered for.

Manda Bay's sheltered mangrove creek and calm waters are ideal for water skiing. Snorkelling, windsurfing, banana boat rides and deep sea fishing are also available as well as dhow cruises and visits to Lamu Town – which we strongly recommend.

Manda Bay is reached by three scheduled flights a day from Nairobi into Lamu, or by air charter into its own private airfield.
