There are three room types available at the lodge, the beautiful Cabana’s -each with it’s own private deck and plunge pool, the luxurious Casita’s complete with a lounge area, private wooden deck, plunge pool and outdoor dining Gazebo, just a step away from the beautiful half moon beach.
For those wanting unsurpassed luxury and privacy – there is the exclusive Villa, set apart from the rest of the Lodge, with two double bedrooms and its own private lounge/dining area with personal chef and private swimming pool.
Meals at Benguerra are fresh from the sea, with delicacies such as crayfish, crab and calamari tantalisingly prepared or exotic Portuguese dishes. Lunches are relaxed affairs served in different settings.
This island is a mecca for scuba divers and the lodge has a fully equipped dive centre and access to some of the most pristine reefs in the world. The lodge offers excellent saltwater fly and deep sea fishing. Cruises on a traditional dhow offer the opportunity to look for dugong, see dolphins and flamingos, and to savour Mozambique’s wonderful sunsets. Explore the Island on horseback, or enjoy a comfortable Landrover tour. The indigenous forest ensures that there is excellent birding, with over 125 recorded species, including the Crab Plover and the Narina Trogon.
Benguerra Lodge has a small spa, situated in the indigenous forests, where guests can relax and enjoy a soothing massage. Alternatively, do nothing and simply indulge yourself in relaxing under the coconut palms or have a ‘castaway’ picnic on a deserted beach!
Benguerra see themselves as a safari lodge on the beach. The rate is inclusive of all meals and the following activities: snorkelling, picnics, sea kayaking, Dhow Cruises, Village visits and drinks (excluding premium imports etc).
Benguerra Lodge is a 25 minute boat transfer from Vilanculos or a 10 minute air transfer.
