Marlin Lodge is a glorious barefoot beach hideaway situated on the southwest shore of Benguerra Island, the second largest island in the Bazaruto Archipelago off the coast of Mozambique.
After largely being destroyed in tropical cyclone Favio, which hit the Bazaruto Archipelago in February 2007, Marlin Lodge was rebuilt and underwent a significant upgrade before re-opening in December 2007. The lodge comprises of 17 private individual chalets, they are air-conditioned and have a comfortable lounge area with day bed as well as indoor and outdoor showers, double vanity and enclosed private toilet. They all have a private sun tanning deck and a private beach area with thatched gazebo. All the chalets are west facing boasting spectacular sunset views. There is a new spacious swimming pool with beach gazebo and serviced pool bar as well as numerous lounge and bar facilities.
Experienced chefs prepare a wide array of seafood specialties and meals range from semi-formal affairs in the dining room to casual beach buffets. Dinners are sumptuous occasions, each night a surprise - like tables laid on the beach at the end of an avenue of palm fronds and flaming torches. Marlin Lodge has a superb reputation for the outstanding standard of its cuisine.
The water temperature ranges between 23°C and 26°C. This makes outings of scuba diving and snorkelling combined with a picnic lunch on one of the many beautiful island beach locations very popular. This unspoilt area offers some of the finest scuba diving sites and some of the best deep-sea fishing in the word. PADI Certification Course & Advanced Open Water Course are available. Other activities at Marlin Lodge include ocean-ski paddling, windsurfing, catamaran sailing, motorised water sports, dhow cruises and island drives. There is also a wonderful beauty and wellness centre.
