Mozambique’s remote Medjumbe Island is one of the many islands making up the Quirimbas Archipelago. It is a small, mystical island with an ancient lighthouse on it. Only one kilometre in length and 500 metres in width, it has numerous small bays and coves, complete with white beaches. The island is teeming with bird life, including the black heron.
Medjumbe Island Resort is the ideal tropical island getaway for those who wish to experience an isolated private island haven; it is perfect for romantic getaways.
Accommodation at Medjumbe consists of 13 deluxe thatched chalets which nestle in secluded spots just metres from the beach. Each is beautifully furnished and has undergone a very recent renovation. All enjoy excellent facilities including private plunge pools, baths, and indoor and outdoor showers.
Medjumbe’s main building has incredible views out over the beach and sea. Here one can dine on delicious local seafood dishes and enjoy exotic cocktails at the bar.
Medjumbe is ideal for diving enthusiasts with the diversity of marine life being literally breathtaking. Guests can also enjoy a variety of watersports and excellent game fishing with the opportunity of hooking a marlin, sailfish, dogtooth tuna, mackerel, various species of kingfish and the infamous bonefish.
Medjumbe is a 40 minute light aircraft transfer from Mozambique’s Pemba.
