It has incredibly attentive service and provides a wonderful mix of freshly caught seafood, handpicked spices and delicately flavoured vegetables. The new a-la-carte rooftop restaurant caters for only eight people and has stunning views as the sun sets over the Zanzibar sea.
The hotel buildings at the Serena Inn form a horseshoe around the swimming pool, making the most of its sea front location. Transport is free to the private Mangapwani Beach with its exclusive beach and watersports activities. There are also excursions to the spice gardens and Jozani Forest.
Zanzibar airport is four miles from Stonetown.
