We have found that following their safari many clients like to relax on one of Africa’s exquisite beaches or Indian Ocean islands. Consequently we have become experts in adding a beach or island stay to a safari holiday. Experience has taught us that this is the perfect combination for providing a once-in-a-lifetime African journey.
The Indian Ocean islands off Africa are some of the most beautiful places on Earth. They fulfil all the desert island clichés one could possibly dream up - powder white sands, shimmering turquoise waters and swaying palms. Add to this world class diving, snorkelling and deep sea fishing, as well as a vast array of other watersports, and these destinations are irresistible.
Typically our clients tend to spend 10 days on safari and five to seven days at a mainland or island beach destination. Which destination we recommend depends on our client’s specific requirements, as well as the country in which they have completed their safari experience.
Below is a brief synopsis of what each destination has to offer and of what we believe works best with what.
The coast of Kenya
Kenya’s endless sandy beaches have become increasingly popular over the last few years; however our intimate knowledge of the area means we can suggest private houses, small hotels or resorts that are located in remote and idyllic locations.
The islands of Zanzibar
Zanzibar and her Islands lie off Tanzania’s coast. The coastlines of these "Spice Islands" are some of the most seductive in the world. They lie in aquamarine seas under the huge equatorial sun. Sugar white beaches slope gently to waters teeming with life.
After an East African Safari
The Kenyan coast and Lamu archipelago are the perfect add on to an East African safari, as is a visit to Tanzania’s Zanzibar and her islands.
Mozambique
Mozambique is largely untouched by tourism and is Africa’s undiscovered jewel. It offers pristine white beaches and fantastic marine life; the diving, snorkelling and fishing available are among the best in the world. Accommodation is more rustic than that of the resorts in the Seychelles and Mauritius and is based around the philosophy of "bare foot luxury".
The Seychelles
The Seychelles consist of either granite or coral islands; both incredibly beautiful in their own ways, they are the perfect setting for those seeking peace and tranquillity in a natural, unspoilt environment.
After an East or Southern African Safari
Mozambique and the Seychelles tie in well with either an East African or a Southern African experience. Both destinations have regular connections from Nairobi in Kenya and Johannesburg in South Africa.
Mauritius
Mauritius is a more sophisticated and glamorous affair and is home to some of the most luxurious and sophisticated hotels in the world, all of which provide an unparalleled level of service. A particularly relaxed attitude towards children ensures guests of all ages feel more than welcome.
After a Southern African Safari
Being only a short flight from Johannesburg, the coast of South Africa and Mauritius tend to combine best with a Southern African experience.
