The traditional safari was a mobile safari – you would be driven around by a professional guide, your camp’s equipment travelling with you or ahead of you.
This sort of safari is certainly for the more adventurous but this wonderful thing about this type of safari is that it can get you way off the beaten track.
With the operators we use this doesn’t mean compromising on creature comforts! As you move, your camp is taken down and then identically replicated at a new site.
Mobile safaris vary enormously, and the more exclusive ones have enormous and exquisitely decorated tents with private facilities and fine cuisine. On more classic trips they can be simple dome tents. Some are more mobile than others; some you move from semi permanent camps which Operators move periodically as game moves, some of these semi-mobile camps even have flushing loos. Some Mobiles are walking mobiles; some are mokoro trails; some are canoe trails; some are partly driven and partly fly-in; some are totally private and exclusive; some are for groups with fixed departure dates.
If you think you might be interested in a mobile safari please contact us and we can talk you through the myriad of different options. Once we have an idea of what you might like to do and not like to do we can start designing an itinerary which suits you.
We can arrange mobile safaris for you in all the countries that we feature on this website. This sort of holiday can be cheaper than the typical permanent camp safari.
