Little Vumbura Camp

Little Vumbura is also in the Vumbura Concession situated to the north of Mombo, in a private concession bordering the Moremi Game Reserve in the extreme north of Botswana's Okavango Delta. The Vumbura Reserve offers both land and water safari activities in a park that has a wonderful variety of habitats and a great diversity of wildlife; with both dry and wet activities on offer guests are able to broaden their safari experience. This reserve in Botswana offers an enormous traversing area of close on 130,000 acres.

The entire camp has recently been rebuilt and restyled and the result is an exquisite six roomed tented camp shaded by the canopy of an ancient Okavango forest. The tents are now larger than the ones in the original camp and there is a new family unit with two rooms. The tents are large and comfortably appointed, with en-suite facilities and an outside shower under the stars; a greater emphasis than before has been put on privacy and comfort. The camps dining area, central area and pool have all been enlarged. All this has been achieved with minimum environmental impact.

Mokoros (dugout canoes) traverse the flood plains under the guidance of experienced polers. Open 4x4 Land Rovers allow guests to get close to animals in the savannah areas - however during the annual period of high floodwaters in the Okavango, this activity is limited. In this period, (much of March to October), guest boat to dry land and board game viewing safari vehicles there. Guests usually have the opportunity to see lion, leopard, elephant, sable and buffalo, along with all the plains game, providing an excellent all-round safari experience in this remote corner of Botswana's Okavango Delta.

Little Vumbura is part of a community participation plan that aims to bring the communities who live around Botswana's Okavango Delta into the tourism mainstream.
