The landscape of Tanzania’s Tarangire National Park is famous for the huge baobabs scattered across its skyline. Tarangire National Park presents an almost surreal picture with many of the trees being rubbed raw by the huge herds of elephant which pass through in search of food. It’s a strong, rolling wilderness that over the last hundred years has earned the respect of the bush-wise, first as a hunting ground, and more recently as a vital wildlife sanctuary in Tanzania’s Great Rift Valley. In the dry season large herds of game, including eland, kudu, wildebeest, buffalo and elephant are drawn to the permanent waters of the Tarangire River. The abundant lion, leopard and diverse raptors are never far away.
