The River Club

The River Club is a sunlit bubble of comfort and hospitality that lies dreaming in dappled shade overlooking the Zambian side of the Zambezi River. The River Club is 18 kilometres upstream from Victoria Falls meaning that guests can enjoy day trips to them but then return to a peaceful and tranquil setting away from the crowds.

The camp has a distinct Edwardian flavour and its stunning location makes it a great place to just chill! Many of our clients choose to begin or end their safaris here.

Its main area is a well appointed Edwardian style house, with a comfortable lounge, large dining room, impressive library and wide veranda on which breakfasts and teas are taken. Manicured lawns (where midday meals are often served) spread out beneath the trees and a croquet court is an ideal venue for a Pimm's soaked croquet game. The pool has been built to seem part of the river itself, a secluded deck with hammocks and loungers provide respite, and beauty treatments are available in the calico "massage tent".

Ten thatched luxury chalets each have a split level bedroom and en-suite bathroom, and one side completely open to the river, so that there is an uninterrupted vista of the shining Zambezi and glorious African sunsets from both bed and bathtub.

Activities include sundowner cruises, visits to the mighty Victoria Fall, Simonga Village, local markets and Livingston; as well as a variety of other "adrenaline" activities at extra cost – these include white water rafting, bungee jumping, abseiling and helicopter flights over the Falls. With the Zambezi National Park just across the river, hippo and elephant are regularly seen, birdlife is particularly rich and tiger fishing is a challenge for keen fishermen.
